Welcome to ADC Projects

WHAT WE DO
We assist factories, foundries and other clients in the heavy industry to become less dependent on utility power. We do this by developing dedicated power generating facilities to supply their electricity needs. Projects can be funded off balance sheet, using debt capital or by bringing equity partners on board. Sometimes a mix of these options works best.
WHY IT MATTERS
In Africa and various other parts of the world generating capacity is under massive strain and large industry players such as foundries and mines are regularly instructed to cut back on usage in order to maintain grid stability. These cut-backs result in massive losses in revenue – eroding job security and stifling economic growth. At ADC Projects we help to alleviate the effect of cut-backs and ensure that the wheels of industry keep turning.

Projects

Development of Power Alt Facility
Image

Development on the Power Alt facility; Middelburg, South Africa, started in 2007, where ADC was able to reach financial close on this 10MW facility within 3 weeks of partnering with an interested lender/investor.

Construction commenced in 2008 and ADC Projects was appointed as the Owner’s Project Manager. The project was successfully completed, on time and within budget, 11 months from financial close.

ADC is appointed the Operations and Maintenance partner to the facility and GE Jenbacher is tasked with the corrective maintenance of the plant technology equipment.
Transmission Network Reinforcement and Integration Project

An international cement manufacturer is constructing a plant near Kimpese, in the Bas Congo Province of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The new substation was constructed to provide power to the cement plant and will be supplied from SNEL’s Kwilu Substation with a 220kV transmission line. The distance is approximately 14 km.

ADC is providing Overall Project Management Services to the Project comprising of the Substation, the 220kV transmission line, the expansion of the Kwilu Substation to accommodate the new 220kV transmission line, and the supply to two nearby villages as part of a social responsibility program.
Combined Cycle Gas Turbine station – Due Diligence report
Image

ADC was approached by an international Company to conduct an evaluation on a 1040 MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine station (CCGT), in the Middle East. As part of this evaluation process, ADC had to compile a comprehensive Due Diligence report and investment model of the power station’s business, that would comply with the requirements of international financing.

This due diligence process included the ADC team doing an in-depth site evaluation of the Power Station.

NEWS

How investors and lenders can reduce project risk, improve their opportunities and increase their return.
Joining a project at financial close to provide funding – both equity injection and debt – carries a much higher risk and cost than many risk models recognise. Based on experience from a substantial number of project developments, this white paper explores:

  • The hidden risks that threaten the success of lenders and equity investors providing project funding;
  • How committing development capital at an earlier phase presents investors and lenders with a better opportunity;
  • How to mitigate the risks and ensure success when committing capital during a project’s development phase
